The Women’s Center will host the 17th Annual NC State Chocolate Festival for Breast Cancer Research on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in Talley Student Union’s State Ballroom. The festival is many things — a fundraiser, an educational event, a chocolate extravaganza, a silent auction and fun.
The Chocolate Festival raises thousands annually for both the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the Women’s Center while providing educational resources about breast cancer free of charge for the campus community. Chocolate vendors from the local community donate products for the booths, and many individuals and campus organizations donate goods and services for the silent auction. Faculty, staff and visitors attend the festival, which coincides with NC State’s Parents and Families Weekend.

Antoinette Norton, newest member of the Women’s Center staff, spoke about the upcoming event, “Being a breast cancer survivor myself, it is so important to have the Women’s Center put together this kind of large-scale event. Not only do people get to come together to share in the enjoyment of chocolate, we’re also bringing breast cancer awareness to campus and honoring the legacy of Kay Yow.”

Ticket holders receive a pink box and six chocolate samples of their choosing from a large array of vendor booths and tables. Additional tables provide interactive and educational information about breast cancer and related issues. Face painting and games round out the evening of activities.
Find more information on the Chocolate Festival website. Follow the link to purchase tickets for yourself and your friends and family or volunteer to work at the event. Additionally, if you are a local business specializing in sweets, please visit go.ncsu.edu/chocolate to find out how to donate your time and/or products for a great cause. Contact Lisa LaBarbera-Mascote at lmlabarb@ncsu.edu for more information.
Tickets usually sell out, so we recommend getting yours early.
